Cello’ScooL

Malvern

Over the last 25 Years JuliLa has developed her Cello’ScooL teaching style ‘on the job’! By combining her understanding of the Susuki & Kodayli methods, with their emphasis on good posture and intonation, adding a hint of LCS’s Selma Gokcen’s sound beginner’s technique Ex, blended with a bit of boogie woogie thrown in for good measure and.. Voilà!

Along the way composing pieces that include improvisation to encourage playing by ear and develop listening skills. Cello’ScooL now has a series of  ‘tune-ins’ and ‘warm-ups’ to nurture the basics of tone production, and enable an ability to navigate the geography of the cello with agility, whilst gently coaxing  pupils to  play & sing at the same time.

Meanwhile..

Classes run alongside individual lessons to give pupils an opportunity to play & perform popular current tunes as well as classic tracks together whilst have fun!

Happy..

It all began

HERE on the SoLfa.. So good! Staircase at The Grove.

How I miss that set of 13 steps.. a teaching tool that perfectly illustrated the feeling of the  tones & semitones of a scale.. combined with hand signs..  to train the inner ear..
